About Play:
Bharatendu, a nineteenth century playwright, wants to face mrithyu, which is death and plays with it. Mallika, a widow, who stays with him tries to attract him towards her. But the arrogant Bharatendu continues to play with mrithyu. Naturally the last laugh is of death. In this play, writer had used an archetype of playing dice with death.
Bharatendu was one of the last Bhakti Poets and the first to construct a contemporary prose.
In this play another character, shadow of death has been symbolically used. Death is silent, it's fear is vibrant.
