Introduction :

The Sunday School of Drama is organised by Samashti in association with Vesha, an organisation for street plays and cultural activities.

The school of drama is especially designed to help the working class people and the students to learn basics of theatre art. This will give them a forum to pursue their theatre hobbies. This special wing of Samashti with professional faculties, has a dream of creating theatre and cultural awareness and thereby building a healthy society.

Eligibility :

Candidates within the age limit of 16 to 30 years are eligible.

Class Timings:

Every Sunday there will be 4 classes of 90 minutes each. It starts from 10.00 A.M. and ends at 5.00 P.M. There will be a lunch break of 60 minutes from 1.00 P.M. to 2.00 P.M. Apart from weekly classes, students are required to attend rehearsals at evenings on other days also during class room productions.

Strength:

The strength of the class shall not be more than 20 students. These students will be selected on the basis of interview. The first class was started on 9th July, 2006.

Location:

The location of school is at present National College, Jayanagar 7th Block, Bangalore.

Fee Structure :

The fees will be rupees 3000 per annum of which rupees 1500 to be paid on admission and the balance in 3 equal monthly installments. There will be concessions for poor students. These concessions will be considered on case to case basis.

Scheme of Study & Examination :

As explained above, the students have to undergo weekly classes. Most of the classes are practical in nature. There will be 2 class room productions during the year. At the end of the year every student has to write, design and direct a short play as an experimental production.

Evaluation of the students will be made on the basis of exams - theory, practical and effectiveness of experimental productions.
